21/06/2008 LIARS (US) SUPPORT, a review, a tour and the upcoming album
Murmansk will support Liars (US) when they visit Helsinki on Friday 4th July. The venue is Tavastia, tickets 20 euros. No need to say that we are very excited to do this gig!
Stalker Music webzine posted a review on Chinese Locks, thanks!
The band will make a short European tour in October with Mesmer. The tour will start from the Baltics, end up in an indie festival in Denmark and between those go somewhere in Central Europe. We are working on it.
We have also been working on new songs, despite the fact that its been very busy with everything. We'll head into a studio in November, play live for a long weekend again, and start mixing immediately after that. Chinese Locks should receive its follow-up album during the first quarter of 2009 (...). At this point it seems like the two far ends of our music are getting further away. We'll play a couple of the new tracks at the Tavastia gig in July.
That's it. Enjoy Midsummer!
05/06/2008 A BOOKING AGENCY DEAL & REVIEW
Murmansk has signed a deal with Sam Agency, who will start acting as the band's booking agent from now on.
One more review by Chambers Magazine, which also picked Chinese Locks as the album of the week. Thanks for the review!
27/05/2008 Yle-X radio interview on TUESDAY 27TH MAY & Blog postings
Murmansk visited Yle-X / X-Ryhmä on Tuesday 27th May, on air 19:10 sharp.
A great UK based blog Indie MP3 posted news, here.
There also a review at It's A Trap. Good review, thanks! Just one minor correction though: we haven't started as postrock instrumental trio before Laura joined the band... Sounds more like history of another Finnish shoegazing-band, On Volcano. There's always been a singer in this band, and we can just assure you that no postrock was found here in the beginning (nor now either... although the line between shoegaze and postrock is probably rather thin), but a lot of distortion and stoner rock yes. :)
20/05/2008 A Big Thanks to Karttunen Kollektiv!
Video footage from Murmansk show at Nosturi with Karttunen Kollektiv's Imaginary Friends will be coming out shortly. Look out for that. In the meantime, there's a review and an interview on the latest (May/08) issue of Papper, and a review on Vertigo.
ELMU 30th Anniversary party on Saturday 17.5.!
Murmansk performs this Saturday (17th of May) at Nosturi, Helsinki. It's going to be a one-time special show, as the band teams up with contemporary dance company Karttunen Kollektiv, with a reference to their work My Imaginary Friend Is With Me.
The company is based around Jyrki Karttunen who is one of the frontline Finnish choreographers in the field of contemporary dance, and naturally we are very proud to share the stage with his company. Go and see their works -- even if you haven't seen any contemporary dance before. You'll be surprised.
The night is full of great domestic indie acts and tickets are only 5 euros, so do not miss this. The schedule is as follows:
KAISA VALA 20.45 - 21.15
I WAS A TEENAGE SATAN WORSHIPPER 21.20-22.00
TUVALU feat VJ Lasse Ilano 22.10-22.50
REGINA 23.05-23.45
MURMANSK feat Karttunen Kollektiv 00.00-
